A vintage pop-up shop is springing up in Dallas this week, and virtually out of thin air. The 3,000 square foot space, located next to the Double Wide at 3500 Commerce is loaded with vintage goods, and will be open from Thursday, June 23 until Sunday, June 26.
“My husband and I haphazardly came into this business” Jenni Odom tells us about the store. Jenni and Tyler Odom bought storage containers filled to the brim with vintage goods from Gratitude Vintage following the passing of owner Marion Weger this spring. And while Gratitude Vintage is still open under new ownership, a surfeit of their goods can be found at the pop-up shop this weekend. “We wanted to share the wealth locally”, Jenni tells us.
So what can one expect to find at 3500 Commerce this weekend? Odom assures us there will be tons of vintage treats to sift through, including, but not limited to men’s and women’s clothing, jewelry, shoes, purses, ties, suitcases, art, kitchenware, vinyl, hats, furniture and more. The shop opens its doors tomorrow, Thursday June 23 for a “preview sale” at 5 p.m. and everything in the store will be 10% off until midnight. From there, the shop will be open Friday from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m., and Saturday through Sunday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. The couple has a Square — a tiny credit card reader that plugs into an iPhone — that they’ll be attempting to use to ring up customers, but they recommend bringing cash.
Bonus: Jeremy Turner, a friend of the couple, is launching the “Vintage Mobile” early next month. The gutted green school bus will make its debut on July 9, where it’ll be parked next to the Belmont Hotel, dishing out vintage treasures.
