Later this week, we’ll have a slideshow of photos taken from inside the building as renovations are being completed, but in the meantime, we can pass along the below info in reference to the goings-on at Trees, as it plans for its Friday, August 14, re-opening..
First and foremost: There will be no national act performing on Thursday, August 13–the potential early opening date owner Clint Barlow discussed when we last spoke with him. The national touring act in question to perform on that night, Saliva, has still been booked to the venue still, but will perform on Monday, August 17, instead.
As for the headlining bands for Friday and Saturday night of the venue’s opening weekend: No changes there. Slow Roosevelt will headline Friday night and Fair to Midland will helm the ship on Saturday evening.
And, lastly, as for the bookings at the venue a little bit further out: the earlier-announced August 19 date with Cold and Taproot has been pushed back to September 20; Faster Pussycat has been booked for Friday, August 21; Tantric has been pushed back from its earlier-announced Friday, August 28, gig to the next day, Saturday, August 29; and Los Straightjackets has been booked for Saturday, September 5.

Barring any unforeseen changes, Barlow says he expects that all to remain solid and in place.
Meanwhile, though we’ve been mum on our opinions on the bookings to date at the soon-to-be-re-opened Trees, well, that’s starting to become a difficult task. So, on that note: Here’s hoping Barlow starts looking beyond the narrow modern rock world for future headlining acts.
