One of the most beautiful aspects of art is the avenue it opens for the very young and the very willing. Freddie Jones’ horn has sent him around the world – from Paris to Rotterdam – and back, and the UNT-educated trumpeter has since paid it forward, providing young musicians with the tools and inspiration to make their dreams a reality.
Tonight, the local educator and his Freddie Jones Jazz Group will be rocking the atrium during Thursday Night Live at the DMA. The performance is free with general admission to the museum, and the DMA has provided a special menu with light bites and cocktails while you enjoy the local flavor, indoors this year, in lieu of the sorely missed Jazz Under the Stars.
But, chin up friends – roof or not, Freddie ’bout to blow the top off this mother. His group will perform from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m, and here’s a little “Smack Yourself,” an original composition, to get your motor running:
