This weekend, Malai Kitchen will start serving brunch every Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Co-owner, Yasmin D. Wages says that it was always their intention to serve brunch at Malai since “we’re in West Village and brunch is a major part of the Dallas dining scene. We just wanted to wait until we were more settled in.”
The Southeast Asian restaurant will offer new twists on classic brunch bites, like Vietnamese French Toast with tamarind maple syrup ($8) and Thai Style Eggs Benedict on a flaky coconut biscuit ($11). They’ll also feature Vietnamese Beef Noodle Soup (Pho Bo) a breakfast dish in Vietnam, which is rumored to be a killer cure for hangovers. Regular menu items will be available as well.
On a regular basis during brunch, mimosas and beers will be $3 each and signature cocktails including their house-made Bloody Marys, will be $5 each. But to get things off to a smashing start, Malai will be offering 25-cent mimosas this weekend (May 28 and May 29) because they “wanted to do something to get people excited about brunch. Who doesn’t love a great deal on a drink? Our Mimosas are the real deal with a great quality French sparkling wine,” Wages says.
As for whether or not Malai will make a habit of this 25-cent mimosa deal, well, Wages says, “It’s possible. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter to find out.”
