Why: Because your back yard and your grilling abilities aren’t nearly this chill. But if the heat makes you less than interested in hanging out in the outdoors, there are two inside areas where you can congregate with friends.
The patio area that gives Jack’s Backyard And Chill Grill its name features an outdoor stage and plenty of tables, with a few trees providing shade from the sun, plus fire pits that are a welcome sight in cooler months. The bar area is a bit more spiffed up, but cozy couches and a pool table complement the homey vibe of this bar and grill on the northeastern edge of Oak Cliff — and helped earn it a spot among the bars listed in our recent happy hours cover story.
Also, the food ain’t bad either, with offerings ranging from burgers and brats to comfort food to the bacon-wrapped water chestnuts demonstrated in a 2009 Appetite For Instruction.
