Area hip-hop product Dorrough–and subject of my column in this week’s print product–is gonna be tough to avoid in the coming weeks as he prepares for his debut album’s August 4 release (moved back a week from last we heard).
For one, all this week, the MTV Jams Fab Five artist will see his videos for “Ice Cream Paint Job” and “Walk That Walk” on rotation on the music video channel.
But, beyond that, Dorrough’s beginning to push yet a third single from the still-unreleased Dorrough Music, the Slim Thug-supported “Piece & Chain Swangin.” To help promote the track, Dorrough offered his Twitter followers a free download of the song over the weekend. It’s worth a download for the curious listeners, yeah, but it’s hardly a keeper–the version’s littered with promo drops, which is pretty annoying, if somewhat understandable.
Perhaps to make up for the annoyance, though, Dorrough also offered up another track–this one without promo drops cutting into the music–for download via his Twitter stream this weekend: The song, “Ms. Parker,” is actually an unreleased cut that doesn’t make an appearance on Dorrough Music–which is a shame, since it’s slow-paced beat and flow might be a welcome change on the otherwise club-heavy disc.
