Minc Lounge in Exposition Park is following up on its Halloween Kool Herc performance by bringing another old-school hip hop icon to Dallas. KRS-One will perform at minc Thursday, January 22, along with Channel Live, according to Vigilante Music Group‘s Greg Barrett.
The January 22 show is not the first time KRS-One was supposed to perform at minc. Earlier this year, Vigilante peppered the Internet with bulletins about a December 5 appearance that eventually fell through. But Barrett is certain the show will happen this time, as KRS-One has booked other Texas dates along with the Dallas appearance.
“What happened with that was a miscommunication between someone here and KRS-One’s tour manager,” Barrett said. “Now we have the contract signed, so it’s set in stone.”
Barrett said about 150 to 200 people showed up for the Kool Herc show, but expects more like 400 for KRS-One. Warming up the crowd will be DJ Tyrone Smiley and Austin MC Zeale. —Jesse Hughey
