Last week, the jovial fellas in Eleven Hundred Springs stopped on by our spot dubbed “El Sibil,” bringing with them tales of the road and promises of good times ahead–most notably at the band’s upcoming February 5 performance at Billy Bob’s in Fort Worth, where the band will be celebrating the release of its latest batch of good-time, classic country, This Crazy Life, which will be available for purchase starting February 2.
For more than 10 years now, the band’s been doing it’s thing now around the DFW region and beyond, playing more than 200 shows a year to fans looking to get on board and in on with whatever these five, self-proclamed, long-haired, tattooed hippie freaks are smoking (SPOILER ALERT: As explained in the lyrics of one of songs performed in the above clip, it’s a joint, big surprise). The formula hasn’t necessarily changed all that much over that time span, as frontman Matt Hillyer explains in the above clip. Neither has the music. And why should it? As good-time country listens go, Eleven Hundred Springs is a can’t-miss. Kinda like some of the gunmen in the Desperado scene clip we had going in the background of this shoot. (We didn’t time or plan the explosion you’ll see at the end of the video to go off when it did, I swear. Sometimes, this crazy life works out in funny ways, I guess. Also: See what I did there?)
Anyway, go ahead and check out the clip, our fifth in our new Live at El Sibil series.
And, tonight at 8:30, we welcome in an act with much less experience to our filming sessions at 122 E. 5th St. in Oak Cliff. Can’t imagine it’ll be any less of a time, though. Feel free to stop on by, if you like. These sessions, as always, are free to attend.
