Caption-writing contest time, if you don’t mind. Lance doesn’t. He’s tough.
Every year, The Washingtonian surveys some 1,700 top aides on Capitol Hill — “the administrative assistants, press secretaries, legislative directors, and chiefs of committee staffs” — for its Best & Worst of Congress issue. And, turns out, U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison isn’t terribly well-liked by those queried, as she turns up in the No. 2 spot on the “Meanest” list, right under Sen. Barbara Mikulski, a Democrat from Maryland. Notes the mag of the three winner-losers on the mean team: “To know you is to fear you: These three got the overwhelming majority of their votes from staff in their own parties.”
Adds the Friend of Unfair Park who shot us the link to the link: “Interesting that Hutchison is so loved in Texas and so loathed in Washington. Maybe she should come home after all.” Also making the Best & Worst, in a bestest way: Sen. John Cornyn, who came in “a close fourth” on the “Most Eloquent” list behind Barack Obama, Ted Kennedy and Robert Byrd. –Robert Wilonsky
