The best radio announcer in Dallas Cowboys history is staying, and the best offensive lineman in Cowboys history is going. Of course, if you rely on the area’s mainstream media these days, you’re clueless to both transactions involving Brad Sham and Larry Alllen.
The Cowboys new flagship radio station–KTCK-AM (1310), better known as The Ticket–announced all day Thursday that Sham would return to broadcasts for his 28th season. We weren’t real worried that the voice of the Cowboys was leaving, but the confirmation was nonetheless newsworthy, at least to Cowboys fans. Apparently, it wasn’t to The Dallas Morning News, which doesn’t have as much as a peep about it in today’s editions. (Its Cowtown competitor, on the other hand, did feel it worth a story.)
And then there’s Allen. According to the papers, the future Ring of Honor inductee hasn’t talked about his controversial release. Or has he? With a new star receiver and new radio outlet, the Cowboys are changing. And with asleep-at-the-keyboard mainstream media, also changing is the way we keep up with Cowboys news. –Richie Whitt
