Cavalier as ever.

Live 105.3 talk-show host Russ Martin is so convinced the charges stemming from his July 18 arrest won’t stick that this week he turned down a slap-on-the-wrist plea bargain from Tarrant County prosecutors. According to a jurisprudence source, Martin snubbed an offer of a reduced charge — something along the lines of disorderly conduct — which would have carried with it only a one-year probation and anger management classes.

Instead, Martin’s case is scheduled to go to trial in January.

Martin, whose ratings certainly haven’t been hurt by his legal problems, has apparently reconciled with his girlfriend, moved from Southlake to Frisco and gained confidence that the three-count, misdemeanor charges will ultimately be dropped.

Seems to me you would want to avoid the media circus and negative publicity of a trial. Unless, of course, you are totally innocent. – Richie Whitt
