You and I now have lunch plans tomorrow. Let’s meet at noon at Pegasus Plaza, at the corner of Akard and Main. You know you want to. C’mon — there’ll be naked women there, courtesy the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. Seriously, no matter what you think of PETA, you have to love the fact that in order to get out its “Fur is Dead” message, it employs a “bevy of sexy nude activists” (so says the press release we just got) to spread the word.
Here’s the precise wording from the PETA release: “PETA’s internationally renowned ‘I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur’ campaign will hit Dallas tomorrow, when PETA’s bevy of sexy nude activists will climb into a giant bed and hold signs that read, ‘Fur-Out, Love-In,’ to take their message of compassion in fashion to consumers for Valentine’s Day.”
One problem: PETA doesn’t say precisely who will be included in that bed full of bevy. So we called PETA to ask for a roster of its so-called “valentine vixens.” (Maybe Joanna Krupa? She’s pictured above.) We could get no one on the phone — too busy out picketing, protesting or purchasing polyester-vinyl blends. But when we do, we will let you know. –Robert Wilonsky
