Our pal Maria May at the AT&T Performing Arts Center sent about an hour ago that Natalie Merchant, one of the 10,000 Maniacs, will be performing August 19 at the Winspear Opera House in support of her new album Leave Your Sleep. She confirms: This’ll be the first pop show in the Winspear (recall, the Flatlanders and Kelly Willis and Bruce Robison played the Wyly). According to Maria’s e-mail, tickets go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Saturday here.
But just a few minutes ago I got another e-mail from the AT&T PAC — ya know, a regular ol’ e-blast — offering an “exclusive pre-sale offer.” Instead of having to wait till Saturday if I was so inclined, I could, in fact, begin purchasing tickets starting at … well, nine minutes ago, as a matter of fact. So I called Maria and asked her if I could share this information with the Friends of Unfair Park who might, in fact, want to line up early for Natalie Merchant tickets. And, because this is how she rolls, she said yes.
