You probably noticed that today is December 12, 2012, or 12/12/12, which depending on who you ask is the Gregorian calendar’s last repeating date this century or the last date. Period.
We’ll go ahead and assume Brent Troy Bartel falls into the latter camp. Police were dispatched to Bartel’s Richland Hills just after midnight — 12:12 a.m., perhaps? — when Bartel called 911 to tell the operator “I shed some innocent blood,” according to NBC 5.
“I inscribed a pentagram on my son,” Bartel said when the dispatcher asked exactly what that meant adding, by way of explanation. “It’s a holy day.”
Police found the boy, 6, in pajama pants with the pentagram covering most of his back. They also found a box cutter. Bartel handed the boy to paramedics, who took him to Cooks Children’s Hospital.

Bartel was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was taken to the Quad-Cities Jail in North Richland Hills where he’s being held under $500,000 bond.
Now, we can hopefully get back to more mundane, less disturbing 12/12/12 stories about about couples getting married, women having C-sections and children turning 12.
