Thursday afternoon, a Collin County grand jury elected not to indict former McKinney police officer Eric Casebolt, who made national news when video surfaced of him pinning a pool party reveler to the ground last June.
Casebolt and 11 other McKinney police officers were called to bust up a pool party gone bad. A fight broke out, kids didn’t leave when asked and, when the cops showed up, they did what partying teenagers often do when confronted by police. They scattered.
Casebolt didn’t appreciate having to chase the teenagers. “Y’all make me fucking run around here in 30 pounds of goddamn gear in the sun because you want to screw around out here,” he said on a video captured at the scene.
When Casebolt caught up to 15-year-old Dajerria Becton, he tossed her to the ground. When her friends tried to intervene, he pulled a gun on them.

Casebolt resigned from the McKinney Police department less than a week after the incident. The Texas Rangers handled the investigation into Casebolt’s actions and recently turned their finding over to the grand jury.
Following the no-bill, McKinney Police intend to host a community forum at the Old Settler’s Recreation Center on Monday night.
