Exactly a week ago, we mentioned a fundraiser taking place tomorrow night at the Nokia Theatre at Grand Prairie featuring Willie Nelson and Jessica Simpson performing gospel songs with the Fort Worth Symphony, a performance by the Dallas Black Dance Theater and an emcee duties provided by Kinky Friedman, with additional entertainment provided by Cirque du Soleil. Yeah. That one. (Word is Johnny Knoxville will be there too; Larry Hagman also. Because the line-up wasn’t weird enough, apparently.) It’s a benefit for the the AetheriA Foundation, which is establishing an arts scholarship fund for local students; money raised at tomorrow’s show is going to the Dallas Black Dance Theatre and the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra.
Anyway. So, yeah, it’s a fundraiser. Only, let’s say you wanna go and don’t want to be very generous…or, ya know, you’re broke and in need of your own arts scholarship. Well, Unfair Park has just the ticket — two actually, along with a club parking and access to the Nokia’s drinking establishment, where you can actually smoke a few while waiting for Jes and Shotgun Willie to perform “Nearer, My God, To Thee,” or whatever it is they’ll do. Since we couldn’t be bothered to come up with a trivia contest to give away these ducats, all you gotta do is be the first to e-mail me with the promise you can be at Unfair Park HQ by 6 p.m. Though the promise of an appropriate gift always helps too. –Robert Wilonsky
