Fort Worth police shot and killed two dogs that mauled a man and his daughter early Tuesday morning.
According to police, the man heard a commotion outside his home, located in the 3300 block of N. Crump Street, just southeast of Meacham Airport, just after midnight. He stepped outside to find two stray pit bulls attacking his dog in his front yard. When he tried to get them off, they turned on him, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
A neighbor, fearing the dogs were going to kill the man, called 911. Responding officers opened fire on the two pit bulls, both of which died at the scene.
The man was taken to Texas Health Harris Methodist Fort Worth Hospital with injuries officials describe as serious but not life-threatening.

“He had many bite marks on his face, on his arm — his right arm — and also his legs,” Fort Worth PD Captain Kevin Rodricks told CBS 11.
His young daughter, who was bitten after following him outside, was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Their own dog fled during the attack and has yet to be found.
