Between March and May, as you’re no doubt aware by now, Aldi’s set to reshape the local grocery-shopping landscape — just get your quarters ready if you need a shopping cart. And, just fair warning: When I lived in Wisconsin years ago, I tried shopping at Aldi but found the selection … wanting, let’s say. So while some of us aren’t as tickled by grocery news as others (especially the hungry hordes awaiting the arrival of H-E-B, good Lord), don’t let our cynicism stop you from dropping by 4120 Gaston Avenue today from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. as the German-based supermarket chain is accepting applications for cashiers, offering an impressive 10 bucks per hour, full benefits (medical, dental, vision) and even 401(k). And the health-care coverage? Only $10 a month (or $160/mo. for family coverage)!
