It’s no secret Tony Romo grew up in Wisconsin idolizing Brett Favre. The fact that they’re facing off Sunday in the NFC Playoffs is as delicious as it is ironic.

Since his three-interception game in the Cowboys Stadium opener against the Giants back in September, Romo’s been almost flawless. He’s finally found that tiny window of balance between risk-taker and odds-player. Sometimes a sack or an incompletion can be a positive play.

I think, in fact, that Romo has a better grasp of his skills and potential and responsibility than the 40-year-old Favre. The retired-unretired-retired-unretired future Hall of Famer is the wild card Sunday in that you can’t game plan for his ad-libs. Or his rocket arm.

Both are similar quarterbacks having similarly superb seasons.
