The man you see at right is Brandon Yerby. He is 22. And he has been missing since Thursday. That is why, moments ago, the Dallas Police Department sent out an endangered-person alert — because the department’s hoping that maybe you’ve seen him.
According to the police report, Yerby went missing from a foster home on Sleeth Street, near Marsalis and Ann Arbor, sometime Thursday afternoon. Says the report, he disabled the lock to a security gate and just walked right out — which is no good, since Yerby “is diagnosed with Asperger’s, bi-polar and mild mental retardation,” per DPD’s account. And Yerby’s done this before: His foster parents reported him missing and told police “he has left before from previous foster caretakers.”
Per DPD, he’s “high-functioning” but in desperate need of his medication. Anyone with information is asked to call the Dallas Police Missing Persons Squad at (214) 671-4316 or (214) 671-4268.
Update at 2 p.m. Tuesday: Senior Corporal Gerardo Monreal, a DPD spokesman, reports today that “Endangered missing person Brandon Yerby was located at a friend’s home yesterday afternoon.”
