First thing that comes up when you search for “Dallas” in Google News for the past month is this freshly minted piece about former Dallas County District Attorney Henry Wade. The headline blares: “After Dallas DA’s death, 19 convictions are undone.” Craig Watkins says of his predecessor: “There was a cowboy kind of mentality and the reality is that kind of approach is archaic, racist, elitist and arrogant.” And, now, the story’s everywhere: from National Public Radio‘s Web site to Salon‘s to the International Herald Tribune‘s. Wade’s son, Kim, who prefers “competitive” to “racist,” will not be happy. Wait. Kim Wade? You mean Mack Vines’ old attorney? –Robert Wilonsky
