In a move that surely has nothing to do with Texas’ primary election today, George Nash, a volunteer staff member for Dwaine Caraway, has sued Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price for assault. Nash claims that during the melee between Caraway, who’s challenging Price for his seat on the commissioners court, and Price last week at a gospel radio station, the county commissioner choked and lifted him by his neck.
One of the videos from the incident – at about the 16-second mark – does appear to show Price with his hands around Nash’s throat.
The fracas began, Caraway claims, after Price called him a bitch while the station’s microphones were turned off. When Price became upset after one of Caraway’s commercials aired during a commercial break, the fight began in earnest – leading to the physical altercation between Nash and Price and Caraway loudly accusing Price of “fucking up his house” – and his wife.

Price, whose office did not return a request to comment on the lawsuit, is currently under federal indictment on multiple corruption charges. Caraway, who served four terms on the Dallas City Council and was briefly the mayor after Tom Leppert resigned to run for the Senate, is seen as the strongest challenger Price has faced in a long time.
