Your Texas Rangers play the New York Yankees on Friday night, first pitch at 7:05 p.m. Got tickets? It’d be a lot cooler if you did.
Because, see, the Rangers just sent word that Matthew McConaughey will toss out the ceremonial first pitch, right before he heads to Houston to pick up Aerosmith tickets, top priority of the summer. A few hours before David Wooderson takes the mound at the Ballpark in Arlington, he’ll hold a press conference with Nolan Ryan, during which the two Texans will announce after-school-program partnerships (like this one involving the Fort Worth ISD) between the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation and McConaughey’s just keep livin foundation, which is “dedicated to helping teenage kids lead active lives and make healthy choices so they can become great men and women.”
The name, of course, comes from this climactic moment during Dazed and Confused, making it the most ironically named foundation in history.
Also scheduled to attend the pregame warm-up: three area superintendents, among them one Michael Hinojosa of the Dallas Independent School District. A preview.
