A pretty high quality, well-edited video here featuring the emcee stylings of Paul Slavens, the auctioneering prowess of Happy Bullet/cycling advocate/Oak Cliff activist Jason Roberts, the art of Art Conspiracy 5 and the stage presence of The Crash That Took Me as the seven-piece performs its phenomenal new song, “Patricia Lynn.” If you didn’t make it to Art Con 5, well, this is kinda the next best thing. Although, really, you shoulda gone.
The Rural Alberta Advantage at The Cavern on Saturday, December 12:
Another impressive shot clip, actually, this time featuring the Canadian indie rock outfit The Rural Alberta Advantage at The Cavern. Pretty good sound quality, too, even if the band’s frontman warned that his voice wasn’t going to be able to hit its highest register at the start of the clip.
The Gourds at Lola’s Sixth in Fort Worth on Saturday, December 12:
Austin’s The Gourds may think it has outlasted DFW-based alt-country outfits like the Old 97’s and Slobberbone, but, hey, almost everything frontman Kevin Russell says is a joke, so let’s not take him too seriously. One quick note, though: Dallas audiences have a reputation for talking through shows, but, uh, poor showing here Fort Worth. (Yeah, yeah: It’s supposed to be a rowdy show, blah blah blah.)
Props to Emery’s frontman, I guess for putting on such a high energy show–in a parka, no less. Just seems like overkill to me. Maybe it’s just an extension of the snowman on the stage? Dunno. Oh, and boo on the guy who comes in 50 seconds into the clip, asking the people around him not to mosh. Uh, isn’t that the point?
