St. Vincent’s performance(s) at the Kessler Theater and Good Records this weekend were stellar showcases of the Dallas native’s ability to totally shred on the guitar, while keeping it together vocally. Only problem is, the Kessler shows were sold out.
Fortunately, if you were one of the many unlucky ones who couldn’t get to any of the performances, we’ve got the next best thing: St. Vincent recently filmed for her record label live performances of four songs — “Chloe in the Afternoon,” “Surgeon,” “Strange Mercy,” and “Year of the Tiger,” in that order.
The video quality is superb, and Annie Clark looks gorgeous as ever. But the most notable thing about the performance is the precision in which the instruments are played. Basically. Clark comes off looking more and more like a guitar virtuoso throughout the entire piece.
The video follows on the next page. Enjoy.
