Brothers Todd and Toby Pipes have long been fixtures in the North Texas music scene, going back to their time in Deep Blue Something. Regardless of one’s feelings on 1996 hit “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” their contribution to the musical landscape has been substantial, especially in the past couple of years.

While both brothers spent years at the helm of one of the region’s best recording studios, Bass Propulsion Laboratories,Toby has also been a key member in both Calhoun and Little Black Dress. Todd has kept a lower profile, choosing to focus most of his efforts on running the studio. He released full-length Taurus Petals in 2008, and now he’s following that up with the dreamy, bass-rich EP Polar Patterns on Idol Records, released digitally last week.

The folks at Idol Records have been kind enough to pass along “This Storm Is Mine,” one of the tracks from the four-song offering.
