Kiss FM (106.1 on your dial) help its annual Jingle Ball last night at the American Airlines Center, and all the names were there: The singer of the year’s biggest hit in Robin Thicke, one of the planet’s fastest-rising pop stars in Pitbull and Selena Gomez, who played her own show in the big room last month and showed up at Jerryworld last week. Also on the bill: Many smiling young men in beanies.
This sort of thing is less performance and more of a star-watch gluttony — Robert Wilonsky once described it in the pages of this paper as, “One of those annual you-scratch-my-back-and-I’ll-give-you-a-reach-around affairs.” So the red carpet was at least as important as the stage. I’d tell you who was best and worst dressed, but given that Austin Mahone’s beanie probably costs more than my entire wardrobe, I’m in no position to judge. Photographer Rachel Parker was there, so you can still gawk at the celebrities without paying for parking.
