A little blast-from-the-past treat this mornin’: Eleven mighty years ago, way back in 1997, local label Big Iron released a now-out-of-print little Christmas gem called Honky-Tonk Holidays: Christmas in Deep Noellum. And included on that release, this gem: Old 97’s — “Holly Jolly Christmas”.
Suh-weet. Why? Well, I’ll leave that up to the blogger behind My Aimz Is True the blog that, yesterday afternoon, hosted the track for download on its site:
“This track freaks me out a little bit because it’s the Old 97’s doing jazz.”
Indeed, it is! And, well, it’s great.

And just as good: The Reverend Horton Heat track “Santa Looked A Lot Like Daddy” which the blog also includes on its fully-downloadble My Holiday Comp Is True playlist.
Enjoy. Me? I’ma go pick up some egg nog and brandy. What? Jews can’t enjoy Christmas, too?
