It’s interesting to see how quickly raw grief turns into a more refined form of the emotion. The sudden death of Carter Albrecht hit his friends, family and fans hard. To me, if I had suffered that sort of deeply personal loss, I would remain in a catatonic state for about six months.
It’s impressive, then, that the Granada will host a tribute to Albrecht, featuring Albrecht’s band Sorta, the Old 97’s, The Slack, Salim Nourallah, the Drams, Junky Sputhern and many others on Oct. 20. The event, hosted by the Ticket’s Mike Rhyner, begins at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m. I don’t want to sound too sappy here, but it’s amazing that the members of Albrecht’s band are going to take the stage, so go show your support. Tickets cost $30 and all proceeds go to the Carter Albrecht Music Foundation. -– Jonanna Widner
