Rhett Miller, singer/songwriter extraordinaire and frontman for the Old 97’s, made a TV appearance last night as a legless, prosthetic-armed Al Queda member. No, really.

The creators of Squidbillies, the Cartoon Network/Adult Swim staple about Appalachian squids, gathered folk rock’s best and brightest for their season finale entitled “America: Why I Love Her.”

(The episode should soon be up for download here.)

Along with Miller, the show features appearances from Will Oldham (aka Bonnie “Prince” Billy), Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Hayes Carll, Lucinda Williams and a handful more, who all star as friendly forest animals with something satirical and/or absolutely ridiculous to say. Drive-By Truckers, also participating in the musical finale, are the only artists to appear as animated versions of themselves.
