This news from former Lift To Experience frontman Josh T. Pearson comes as a bit of a shock.
In our story about the painful release of his record Last Of The Country Gentlemen earlier this year, he told us, “I called it Last Of The Country Gentlemen because I didn’t know if it would be my last or not.”
But, according to a press release posted to his Facebook page, he’s already got a new one finished, just in time for the holidays. It’s a Christmas EP and it’s being included as a bonus for anyone who purchases Country Gentlemen from Rough Trade Shops in the U.K. as a show of gratitude for having the album chosen as Rough Trade’s Album of the Year.
Pearson’s manager says that it’s a five-song record of traditional Christmas carols, and in typical Pearson fashion, it was all recorded in one day. No word on the track listing yet, but we’ll find out when it comes out on November 21.

In other shoegaze news (Pearson is still considered shoegaze, right? He did open for My Bloody Valentine a few years back.), two-piece act School of Seven Bells, which features former Tripping Daisy and Secret Machines member Benjamin Curtis, is almost finished with their third record, Ghostory, which will earn its release in early 2012. Stereogum caught up with Curtis, who said that fans can expect a bigger record this time around.
And, in more other shoegaze news, Dallas act Little Black Dress celebrated the release of a new seven-inch single over the weekend. Inspired by the recent release of the Beach Boys’ Smile Sessions, it features a cover of “Don’t Worry Baby.” And, thanks to Old Waver, we’ve got it below. Enjoy.
