When you look for Need New Body’s album at a music store, don’t browse through the rock section. While you’re at it, skip the jazz, metal, hip-hop, polka, folk and experimental sections, too, and go straight to the “what the hell is going on?” card. Albums like UFO and the recently released Where Is Black Ben are odes to genre-hopping insanity, and the Philadelphia band’s live show is even more unpredictable, as piano-laced ditties often get torn apart by fuzz-pedal funk freak-outs, high-speed spaz rockers and, um, dedications to suntan lotion. You won’t find a weirder show in town this week–guaranteed.
