Frisco Irish eatery and bar Lochrann’s has gained significant recognition in the last six months as it’s teamed up with Spune to host some pretty cool local live performances. This September they’ll pull out the big guns to establish Main Street as a competitive arts district with Lochrann’s inaugural Oysterfest.
Always anxious to share Irish culture and customs, Lochrann’s owner, Deina McNabb, thought that September–what with Smithwick’s Anniversary, the start of oyster season, and the halfway mark to St. Patty’s Day (September 17)–would be a perfect month for the fest.
Why, then, did they wait so long to spread word of the festival? Well, things got a little slippery.
With the oil spill devastating the Gulf, Lochrann’s staff was pretty certain it would be unable to keep oysters on the menu at all, let alone scrape together enough for an oyster extravaganza. But lucky for us and suffering fisherman around the coast, Lochrann’s has found another fresh oyster supplier and will send a portion of the ticket sales to Gulf Aid, an organization helping families and wetlands affected by the oil spill.

The festival will consist of two stages, one indoor and one outdoor, and more than 15 bands playing throughout the day on September 25. Among them: local favorites Rhett Miller, Telegraph Canyon, Whiskey Folk Ramblers and a bunch more.
