July 1 marks another hot, run-of-the-mill day for us here in North Texas, but for the folks directly affected by the oil spill in the Gulf, it’s another day without work. And some DFW musicians have decided to do something about it–namely, they’ll be teaming up with venues all over the country to participate in what’s called a “Coast To Coast Benefit For The Gulf Coast.” The area portion of the national event will take place at Lola’s in Fort Worth on Thursday, July 1. Cost of admission is $5, and all proceeds will go to benefit the Gulf Restoration Network.

The benefit kicks off at 4 p.m. and goes until 2 a.m., and features performances from Iocane Powder, Sloan Automatic, L Ron Hummer, The Matthew Show, and others. Should be a good time, but, more important, it’s for a good cause. So if you’re looking for a way to pitch in and help (other than saying mean things about BP via Twitter) this is your chance.
