Just a few minutes ago, the not-so-high-speed chase that happened in Dallas passed by the Dallas Observer offices. We cheered as the carjacking suspect led about six or seven cop cars down Maple Avenue, and we discussed his motive, his determination, his lack of clothing, and, finally, his playlist.
Assuming he had planned ahead for the ultimate high-speed chase mix–and synced it to his iPod before flipping the bird to the cops–we’ve come up with the list of songs we’re positive that this dude was jamming. Until, that is, he was smashed on the Love Field tarmac.
Check it out after the jump.
1. “Keep The Car Running” by Arcade Fire

We’re aiming to raise $30,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to you. If the Dallas Observer matters to you, please take action and contribute today, so when news happens, our reporters can be there.
2. “I Fought The Law” by The Clash
We like to think he was really jamming to this track–right up until the part where it said the law won. I think he forgot that part when he made the playlist.
3. “Fuck The Police” by NWABy this point in his mixtape, the cops were onto him. So what did he do? He lit up a cigarette and turned up the stereo. Seriously. Go back and watch the footage. Dude was smoking out the window.
This song was an accident. He immediately skipped to the next track, while he noticed three or four police cruisers in the rear-view mirror.
5. “Danger Zone” by Kenny LogginsWe kind of hope this was the song playing as his back right tire blew. Things were getting dangerous. And no one wanted to be his wingman. What a maverick!
When he looked up and saw police helicopters flying above, he had to figure he was in for it. So he had to just go. Because, let’s face it, it’d be really embarrassing if everyone saw him without his shirt on. Which we did.
7. “Jump In My Car” by David HasslehoffMaybe it was just us, but the mood seemed to lighten as he passed the Dallas Observer offices.
At a certain point, the dude slowed down to a crawl. We like to think that this song inspired him to go “faster miles per hour.”
9. “Jet” by WingsIn a last-ditch effort to escape, our suspect blew through a security fence at Love Field airport and started cruising up and down the runways. Paul McCartney is the only logical explanation.
Well…. he should’ve known it was a bad choice to put this song in the mix.
Next time, he should consult us. Clearly.
