Lil Wayne to Play Allen Event Center on January 7

The Allen Event Center opened just last month--and, no offense to Reba McEntire, who (just as she had at Cowboys Stadium) opened the joint, or to Charlie Daniels, who'll play there with his band on December 19--but we haven't exactly felt all that compelled to go to the new venue...

The Allen Event Center opened just last month–and, no offense to Reba McEntire, who (just as she had at Cowboys Stadium) opened the joint, or to Charlie Daniels, who’ll play there with his band on December 19–but we haven’t exactly felt all that compelled to go to the new venue. That’s a hike up 75 for us.

But, well, now we might have our reason: On January 7, the Allen Event Center, which houses 6,000 for music events, will play host to Lil Wayne, live and in concert. Last time Wayne played Dallas, he did so at the American Airlines Center–and he killed–so this is quite the coup for the new venue.

Anyway, the image to the right is one you’ll also see in this week’s paper–so pardon the little bit that sales that tickets are “on sale now!” They’re not, turns out. Rather, the tickets will go on sale tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. via the Allen Event Center web site or its box office, which can be reached here: 866-443-884.

And here we thought we’d never have much reason to travel to Allen…
