Houston has a long history of demented experimental, noisy and just plain weird music. The current king of this loose thread, which has included the Charalambides, Jandek, the Red Krayola and Rusted Shut, is Indian Jewelry. They are already one of Houston psych’s more friendly ventures as well, thanks to the presence of actual songs and a mutated, warped beat that fuels mind-bending live performances, akin to a late-night rave in the woods under the influence of some horribly wonderful drug combination. The opener is Faux Fox, the long-running Denton glam-dance outfit that makes you think Men Without Hats really weren’t so bad after all.
