Welcome to the future, where a rapper can get famous as much on the strength of his Twitter account as his actual rapping. In both mediums, San Francisco’s Lil B is insanely prolific, surreally self-assured and occasionally spectacular. This is his first Dallas show.
Naam, True Widow, Radkey Wednesday, August 7, at Dada, $10/$12 Brooklyn psych-rock band Naam has apparently toured enough to make a name for themselves, but it’s always good to have an opening band with a following, and True Widow has that and more.
Rotting Out, Take Offense, Minus, Relentless, Dead in the Dirt
Saturday, August 17, at Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios, $10
There are a couple of different bands named Rotting Out, so just to clarify, this is the L.A.-based hardcore group.
Gold Fields, Rush Midnight Friday, September 13, at Club Dada, $13/$15 Australian electro-rock quintet Gold Fields have been featured on MTV and more, and have opened for the likes of Metric, Crystal Castles and Datarock.
Twin Peaks, Bleeding Rainbow Wednesday, September 18, at Three Links Twin Peaks (the band, not Lynch’s work) has a debut record, Sunken, that is coming out July 9 on Autumn Tone, and if you want a taste of the guitar-pop that they’re all about, listen to the new single, “Irene.”
