Sisters Bianca and Sierra Casady, known as “Coco” and “Rosie,” respectively, were born in the States, but didn’t start their musical project CocoRosie until they were living in Paris–which probably explains the overall baroque nature of their somewhat creepy freak folk, which certainly boasts an alluring quality, as you can see above in their music video for “Lemonade.”
(If nothing else, it’s certainly the darkest song named “Lemonade” this year, apologies to Gucci Mane.)
Back in May, the sisters released the fittingly titled Grey Oceans, which aptly describes their weary sound, their first release for Sub Pop. So, yes, even though this pair has been releasing music since 2003, they definitely remain on the up-and-up. Which is why we’re thankful that the Granada Theater is bringing them to town tonight–and even more thankful that the theater’s passed along two free pairs of passes to tonight’s show. After the jump, find out how you can win one of those pairs…
Want one of the free pairs? Just be among the first two people to email me, starting right now, with the words “Cuckoo for CocoRosie” in the subject line, and you’re in. Good luck!
