Original Texas punk rocker Alejandro Escovedo has built a good living for himself and an even better following (these days, at least) with his blend of punk and alt-country. The highly influential Texas-born star has mellowed out a bit since his days in the California punk scene, but he’s still known for breaking into an unexpected cover of “I Wanna Be Your Dog,” or any number of other classic punk songs during his live sets.
He and his backing band The Sensitive Boys are passing through town at The Prophet Bar on Friday night in support of Escovedo’s new disc, Street Songs of Love, which comes as a follow-up to his phenomenally received 2008 release and return-to-form, Real Animal. And, to help spread the word of his performance tomorrow night, the folks over at the Prophet Bar have been nice enough to pass along three pairs of tickets for us to give away to some lucky DC9 readers interested in seeing this show for free.
