Minnesota’s Low stops by The Loft tonight–and it should be a nice little show, as Richard Gintowt writes in this week’s Observer:
“Low…is the anti-crescendo, with most of its compositions putting along at glacial tempos and with cymbal- and floor-tom-heavy percussion. The genius of the Low machine is the emphasis it places on the perfect harmonies of Sparhawk and Mimi Parker and the excitement derived from the few occasions when the trio cuts loose.”
The above cut comes from the band’s 2007 release, Drums and Guns,
but, as Gintowt explains in his write-up, tonight’ show should also
feature some new tunes from the band’s next record, which Low just
finished writing and recording. And thanks to the folks at The Loft, we’ve got three pairs to give away to tonight’s performance. Want ’em? Drop me an email right now with the phrase “Shorty Get Low” in the subject line, and, if you’re one of the first three to do so, you and a friend are in. It’s that simple.Good luck!
