Between Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson and others, it’s tough to necessarily simply credit Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings as the sole proponents behind the whole Motown/soul revival thing that remains prevalent even eight years after the band released its debut full-length Dap Dippin’ with Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings. But there’s no arguing the influence that the band’s had over that revival–and with clips like the above “100 Days, 100 Nights,” it’s easy to see why. Sharon Jones and Co. do the revival as tastefully and true-to-form, if not more so, than anyone else going these days (apologies to Mayer Hawthorne).
Tomorrow night, when the band stops through for a gig at the Palladium Showroom, you’ll see as much firsthand. And you’ll get an added treat thanks to an opening set from Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, who we spoke with in this weeks paper (about sex, even!).
Should be quite the show–one of the best in an already crowded week of great ones.
