Local Natives is turning out to be kind of a big deal. I know this for a few reasons.
1) The band was originally booked to play The Cavern when it scheduled its Dallas appearance for later this week, but now the show will take place at the much-larger Sons of Hermann Hall. And Spune Productions, the agency behind booking the band to the room, just told us that the show is sold out. So there’s that.
2) I saw the band’s SXSW set at the Fader Fort last month. Loved it. Went to Good Records for Saturday’s National Record Store Day celebration, of course, but also to pick up some records I didn’t yet own, including Local Natives’ 2009 debut, Gorilla Manor. They were sold out. The new shipment, I was told, wouldn’t be coming in until Tuesday. Which, coincidentally is today.
So, yeah, Thursday’s show at Sons is looking like a winner to me. And good news for those of you still without tickets: Even with the sellout, Spune’s been kind enough to offer one lucky DC9 reader free admission to the show. Just because.
