For fairly obvious reasons, this year’s annual Ultraviolet concert to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will not take place at Club Dada, its home for the past few years. Rather, it will take place a little bit east in Deep Ellum (right at the end there) at the Double Wide. It’s a somewhat smaller affair, too, no longer featuring long cast of performers. Instead, this year’s affair will feature El Gato, Lovie and Orange Peel Sunshine plugging in, while Ryan Thomas Becker, Madison King and Corey Howe will be offering up acoustic performances.
The good news: That’s lineup’s still pretty rock solid. And there will again be plenty of art up for display and auction.
Plus, the cause is a just one. Check out this clip made for last year’s event, which focuses on Violet, the girl for which the event is named, and her daily struggles with her condition.
Then head out to the Double Wide tomorrow night to help a good ’cause. Because, let’s face it, that Pink Floyd cover band playing at the House of Blues will be back, folks. This event, meanwhile, won’t return until next summer.
