Even though local alt-country singer/songwriter Andrew Delaney released his last album, Scoundrels, this past June–which Alan Ayo gave a positive review in print a few weeks back–the guy is already prepping a new album.
The new record is to be called Would I Lie To You? and it could be released as early as next month. The album continues in the classic roots tradition of the likes of Delaney’s heroes, Steve Earle and Townes Van Zant. Originally from Houston, Delaney has been a Dallas resident for quite a while now, and the local scene is certainly better off with him included.
And Delaney’s been kind enough to send over a couple mp3s to show us why. After the jump, check out Scoundrels‘ “Wine & Roses,” plus a song that will appear on the upcoming album called “The Guitar Playin’ Kind.”
If that nice slice of Americana got you wanting more, you can catch
Delaney and his band tonight at the City Tavern on a nice bill that
includes CC Cross and Springfield, Missouri’s The Bootheel.
