Yesterday, Billboard ran an item claiming Erykah Badu was int he studio recording follow-up tracks to last year’s highly successful and critically lauded New Amerykah, Pt. 1: 4th World War album. Struck us a little odd, though: We thought she’d recorded the album some time ago.
Plus, isn’t she in Europe and nowhere near her Dallas studios? Uh, yup.
So what’s the deal? Well, according to word straight from Badu’s camp: Though there’s no release date currently schedule, Badu, even on the road, is in the process of mixing the record–meaning she’s a whole lot closer to completing it than Billboard indicated.
So when can we expect the disc? Perhaps as soon as the end of the year, says BaduWorld co-manager Paul Levatino.

But, then again, this is the notoriously free-of-time-constraints Badu we’re talking about, so who knows? Either way, we’re closer–and that’s good news, for sure.
