Following up on the Picnictyme-hosted mix for last summer’s Kixpo sneaker exposition, DJs Sober and A-One put together a mixtape for last weekend’s H-Town Sneaker Summit–and it features a handful of Dallas rappers on it (alongside Lil Wayne, Nas, Jay-Z, Cool Kids, Alicia Keys and more).
Released under the duo’s combined Top Notch banner, the mix, which you can download here, boasts tracks from Dorrough, Ty City and even a chopped-and-screwed remix of Erykah Badu’s “The Healer.”
While it hits all coasts, the mix is something of a Texas-meets-New York affair for the most part, with the Keys/Jay-Z “Empire State of Mind” followed up by Nas’ “New York State of Mind,” and other Big Apple artists like Raekwon and Sa-Ra Creative Partners popping up alongside Lone Star rappers like Chalie Boy, Slim Thug, Candi Redd and, of course, UGK.
Maybe that’s thanks to common thread Headkrack, formerly of the Bronx, now a Dallas rapper and K-104 personality, who leads the mix’s intro.
