If you think country music is all about longnecks and two-steps, well, you’re wrong. But if you’re headed to Cowboys Arlington to see Deryl Dodd and the Homesick Cowboys, it won’t much matter. Armed with an arsenal of songs about honky-tonks and heartache, pearl snaps and rodeos, Dodd is a hardworking club-circuit performer. Which is not a bad thing. The Dallas native isn’t selling out arenas or making appearances in Hollywood movies–an odd trend for country artists that we hope ends soon–but he is sweating his way through barroom gigs, singing his songs and meeting his fans. And that means you should expect a down-home, good-time show that won’t cost a nickel and might just be the most fun you can have with your boots on.
