Once upon a time, she was just Carmen. Then, after realizing that the single-name thing wasn’t her style, she extended it out to her full name: Carmen Rodgers. And, on her 2004 release Free, Rodgers showcased a surgary-sweet indie soul coo and rightfully earned her a couple DOMA nominations in its wake.
But, aside from popping up as a featured artist on a few other area musicians’ tracks, Rodgers has been maintaining a relatively low profile of late.
Now we know why: On March 30, Rodgers will put out her next release, called Intermission/The Bitter Suite. And, early indicators show, it’s not less along the granola lines of Free and more futuristic-sounding than one might anticipate.
