Earlier this week, Dallas-area mashup artist Objektiv One released the second in his collection of mashup EPs, this one following up his party-starting 2009 release, Beer Pong Champion. Called, quite hilariously I think, Rad Jams, Bro!, Objkektiv One’s newest collection follows largely the same format of his last, combining elements of the popular hip-hop and indie rock formats into one easily consumed good-time package.
Featuring the vocal stylings of Drake, Rick Ross and Cassidy with the music of Belle & Sebastian, Spoon and Washed Out, it might not be the most intelligent form of music out there–but it still makes for a fun listen, something Objektiv One makes sure people are more than aware of in the press release he sent out announcing the new disc.
“All of the tracks are meant in to be played while the spirit of partying is present,” he writes. “Don’t take them too seriously or you will miss the whole point!”
Fair enough.
